Retrieva collar stops doggies going walkies

Never lose track of your pedigree chum again with the Retrieva sat-nav dog collar

If your pooch is anything like the junk-yard hound patrolling T3 towers, you'll be familiar with losing your four-legged pal to some damn fool idealistic crusade.

Yes, our mongrel is always galavanting around, chasing tail, and doing more exploring than those strange, talking canines in the lovable children's tale Homeward Bound.

But now you can neuter his unsolicited walkies and indeed the coveting eyes of dog burglars with the Retrieva sat-nav collar - debuting at this year's Crufts show at the NEC in Birmingham.

The lockable collar, forged from anti-cut material to deter theives, will allow owners to log onto a website and pinpoint their exact location of their dog. If the wandering - or indeed stolen - Snoopy leaves a preset area then a text will be sent to the owner's phone.

It uses three tracking technologies, satellite, telecom and radio transmitters and if you're out walking the dog and are mugged you can hit the panic button to alert friends and family. Cool

Company Director, Andrew Stuart says the motivation behind the invention, which costs £200, was to help cut down on dog theft heartache for owners.

He says: "Dog theft is out there, but it's not high on the list of priorities for the police - for obvious reasons. Bot for owners or families, if a dog gets lost it's a traumatic experience."
