Having whipped movie fans into a state of excitement for the past couple of decades, Sylvester Stallone’s ass-kicking mercenary Rambo is to once again be memorialised in video game form.
Despite being turned in NES, Sega Master System and Sega Genesis titles, the Rambo video game franchise has always failed to live up to its movie counterparts with UK publisher Reef Entertainment looking to correct that with the newly confirmed Rambo: The Video Game release.
Having acquired the rights to the Rambo series from Studio Canal last year, Reef Entertainment’s Commercial Director Craig Lewis stated: we have been quiet since we acquired the Rambo license last August.”
He added: “During this time we have been dedicated to creating a videogame for consoles and PC that will allow Rambo fans and gamers across the globe to really get under the skin of Rambo and wield his iconic weapon-set in battle."
Despite revealing that it will showcase the first Rambo: The Video Game scenes during the upcoming Gamescom expo, the game’s publisher has yet to offer any confirmed release dates for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 bound title other than it is ‘coming soon’.
Are you excited by the prospect of a new Rambo themed video game or do you think it will be nothing more than yet another franchise flop? Let us know your thoughts on the matter via the T3 Twitter and Facebook feeds.
