The PlayStation 4 will go on sale carrying a price tag of around $400, according to a news report in a Japanese newspaper
PS4 to cost around $400?
Sony PS4
The news cycle concerning next-gen consoles keeps on rolling and at this rate there won't be anything left to announce at the E3 expo.
The latest whiff concerns Sony's forthcoming PS4's predicted retail price; an article in the Japanese Asahi Shimbun newspaper says Sony's new gaming console will cost 40,000 Yen. According to current exhcange rates, this translates at $428 in the US, £399 in the UK and €425 if you're somewhere in Continental Europe.
There's been no official confirmation of any retail pricing from Sony at this stage, but it's worth noting that, if rounded down to $400, the PS4's projected cost wouldn't be too far off the $349 it currently costs to pick up a Wii U console.
A separate report in Nikkei Daily echoes the sentiments of many gaming industry analysts: that the next-gen PlayStation 4 console will be unveiled at Sony the event in New York City on February 20th. It also says that the PS4 will feature Gaikai's cloud gaming technology.
