Although in the early stages, Sony has outed a cool new feature which will be arriving with the PS Vita.
PS Vita video calling to use facial recognition
Sony has outed a video showcasing its facial recognition software which will eventually be used for video calling on the new Sony PS Vita handheld gaming platform.
The technology will be used in conjunction with avatars, allowing your avatar to accurately mimic head/mouth movement and blinking, although that last one may need some work.
It's in the early stages but from what we've seen of the video (see below), it looks very promising, with the technology potentially offering a fun new alternative to video calling while also being more than simply a gimmick.
What do you think, is this just a gimmick or could you see yourself having hours of fun using Sony's new alternative to video calling? Let us know what you think on Facebook and Twitter.
