Possible PS3 release details this Wednesday

Sony is giving a press conference in Tokyo this Wednesday. Could we finally be getting an official launch date?

Sony has so far kept schtum over the release date for the PlayStation 3, vaguely murmuring something about the spring every now and again, but with this timeframe looking about as likely as a Trinidad and Tobago World Cup win, it seems like we could be getting some more concrete info soon. How soon? This week soon, matey-boy.

Sony has announced that it will be holding a press conference in Tokyo this Wednesday, 15th March, and rumour has it that the PS3 may be on the agenda. It could well be that Sony has decided to confirm reports that the next gen console will ship in the US and Japan in time Christmas, which presumably means us mugginses in Europe will have to wait until spring 2007 to get our gaming fix.

Stay tuned for more info on Wednesday, unless of course the press conference is actually about a new range of blank Minidiscs or something.
