Family car for high-earning show-offs

If you want to tell the world you're doing just fine, slap a BMW on your drive. And if you want to rub everyone's noses in it, you might want to park up a Porsche Panamera.

The Panamera sticks two fingers up at BMW and Mercedes Benz with a family-friendly motor packing all the design traits of Porsche's sporty range, but for the first time throwing in sufficient space for the wife and two kids. And with that Porsche badge on the front, there should be no doubt where the money is on your particular street.

Porsche is keeping the interior a secret for now, but for the petrol heads out there, the Panamera hosts a front-mounted V6 or V8 engine and a choice of six-speed manual or Porsche’s PDK seven-speed double-clutch gearbox, offering between 300bhp to 500bhp. There's even a green option on offer, with Porsche promising a hybrid engine for around the launch date.

Look out for it late next summer, with a price of £50,000 currently being touted. If Porsche is offering test drives, you know where we are.
