PlayStation Phone confirmed by Android 2.3 code?

Gaming buttons spotted in Gingerbread SDK

PlayStation Phone the first of many Gingerbread gaming devices?

Coding from the newly launched Android 2.3 OS update makes clear references to gaming buttons in what could be the strongest indication yet that the PlayStation Phone is about to launch.

L1, L2, R1 and R2 buttons well known to PlayStation console owners have been referenced, while further buttons labelled A/B/C and X/Y/Z have also been mentioned. The latter suggests that the PlayStation Phone may not be the only gaming device to run on the Gingerbread which Google has said is geared towards gaming.

New videos of the PlayStation Phone which could be renamed the Sony Ericsson Z1, appeared yesterday showing the device sporting Android 2.3 as we build up to what could be an official launch on the 9th December.

The PlayStation Phone is expected to feature a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor, a 8GB microSD slot, 512MB of RAM and a sizeable 4-inch display.

Stay tuned to as we'll bring you news of the PlayStation Phone as soon as it hits.
