PlayStation Network relaunch not until 31 May

Sony gives new date as PSN woes continue

Move means online network will have been down for almost six weeks.

Sony has confirmed that it’s working towards a 31 May relaunch date for the PlayStation Network. The news follows yesterday’s revelation that the Big S was now looking to “the end of the month” to restore its online services.

It appears Sony is taking that claim to the extreme, with Bloomberg managing to get the exact timing from spokesman Shigenori Yoshida. According to him, 31 May will see PSN and Qriocity restart “fully”.

Yoshida’s comments follow an official blog post over the weekend which confirmed that Sony had missed its initial deadline of partially restoring the service by the end of last week. Sony said, “"We won't restore the services until we can test the system's strength.”
