SCEE boss claims success way beyond initial hopes.
PlayStation Move shifts 1.5 million
PlayStation Move has sold a colossal 1.5 million in Europe alone since its launch on 15 September. Not some idle analyst speculation, but word straight from Sony Europe’s gaming chief Andrew House.
House told Bloomberg that the sales were way higher than he or anyone at Sony had hoped. “The initial sales response has been so far in excess of our initial plan that we'll probably be looking at accelerating production,: he said.
The news comes as Sony looks to up the number of PS3s it sells in 2010, with House suggesting it’ll break its own target of 15 million consoles.
While only European figures are in, there’s no doubting Move has got off to a flier. The question now is whether Xbox 360 Kinect can do the business too. Yesterday’s news that GAME had already sold out of the motion control camera three weeks before launch suggest this is a battle that’ll be well worth watching.
