Piston, Xi3's Steam supported PC for the living room, is now available for pre-order through its creator's official website with prices starting at $999 (around £670). Pre-orders for the device, which was first shown off at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, were opened at the SXSW gaming expo and any orders placed between now and March 17th are elligible for a $100 discount.
The Piston console PC is available in three varients; the standard $999 unit comes with a 128GB solid-state drive, which can be upgraded to either 256GB for $340 or 512GB for an additional $750. Piston units also come with 8GB of RAM and a 3.2GHz Quad-Core processor. The PC will also ship in time for the holidays - that's towards the end of the year for those of you reading this in the UK.
Xi3's president and founder Jason A. Sullivan told gaming website Polygon that the pre-orders have been made available due to high demand for Piston units.
"Given the amount of awards, media attention and gamer interest the Piston console has generated since it was unveiled at CES 2013 in January, we've become seriously concerned that we will not be able to mee the demand for Piston consoles this year," he said.
