Stylish dock with impressive sound

Today in Barcelona, Philips introduced its first Airplay speaker system: the Fidelio SoundSphere docking station, which lets you stream music from an iPhone, iPad and MacBook over WiFi without the need for cables.

The system comprises of two speakers with an unusual curved design and a tweeter that 'floats' above. There's a seperate dock for your iPhone 4 or iPad. As well as looking stunning, the unique design is supposed to project sound in multiple directions, to create a wider sound. T3 was lucky enough to have a demonstration earlier, and they certainly sound impressive.

Previous AirPlay compatible devices such as the Denon Ceol and B&W Zeppelin have been at the premium end of the market, and the Fidelio SoundSphere looks to be in a similar price bracket, with Euro pricing of 799 confirmed, although there's no news yet from Philips on UK pricing.

The Fidelio SoundSphere will launch in May, find out more from Philips
