Parrot Grand Specchio Android-powered photo frame unveiled
Parrot's latest designer product has an interesting twist - it's running on Google's open source operating system
Parrot's been wheeling out the designers to collaborate on anything from fancy photo frames to iPod speaker docks, but this just-announced Grande Specchio photo frame is the first to truly capture our attention. What's so special about a digital photo frame? Nothing usually...except this one runs Android.

It's not just mobile phones and netbooks that have seen the Android treatment, with Parrot's Grand Specchio proving to be the first digital photo frame to embrace the open source OS. Instead of just displaying photos, the Grand Specchio also displays weather, RSS feeds, and allows access to Android's Marketplace app store. As it's touchscreen, and Wi-Fi enabled, it'll offer a lot more than the usual digital photo frame, with boundless potential stored in the Marketplace.
If you'd rather just watch photos glide past on the 10.4-inch screen though, you can queue up Picasa or Flickr, transfer photos from your mobile via Bluetooth or even Wi-Fi, insert an SD card or USB stick or simply email photos to the photo frame's unique email address.
Designed by Martin Szekely, the Grand Specchio looks very similar to the Specchio, which was unveiled at CES earlier this year. On sale at the end of the month, Parrot's Grand Specchio will retail for $650 in the US, with a UK launch not yet confirmed.
