Panasonic Micro Four Thirds GF1 breaks cover
DSLR wannabe packs the looks, probably has features to match
Panasonic was first to market with a Micro Four Thirds camera, specifically with the Lumix G1, which managed to cut down the weight and bulk, but still packed features to match a typical DSLR, although it also looked suspiciously like a typical DSLR too. That's unlikely to be the case with the Panasonic Micro Lumix GF1.
In terms of looks, this is the Micro Four Thirds we expected in the first place from Panasonic, not as obviously retro as the Olympus EP-1, but equally as slim, possibly a little smaller and in its own way, just as stylish. However, what it offers in term of features is still guesswork, although you can obviously see the interchangeable lens options and judging by the front panel, the option to shoot HD video (720p at a guess) in AVCHD format, plus a rumoured pop-up flash.
But crucially, the leaked images, which come from an internal Panasonic product document, look like the finished item. Which means we're unlikely be sat on our hands waiting for the GF1 for much longer. As soon as the official spiel breaks, you'll be the first to know.
