OSX Leopard launch nears

Apple's put the finishing touches to its final Tiger update. Next up, OSX Leopard's long awaited release.

Next month could see Apple finally unleash OSX Leopard on an army of update-hungry Mac fans.

See, we're getting word that Apple's programmers have finished writing version 10.4.9 of OSX, which will be the last update before 10.5, better known as Leopard, is released.

We've also heard murmurs of an announcement from Apple due at the end of the month, which could herald the release of Leopard, or at least an update on some of it's more confidential features.

We already know the new operating system will support multiple desktops, and a clever backup utility called Time Machine, but at the last update Apple boss Steve Jobs alluded to several 'top secret' additions yet to be revealed.

We'd expect an update to show off Leopard's new interface, Apple TV integration and we might even get a peep at new iLife applications designed to tie in with the iPhone.

Keep checking here for news on Apple's next-gen operating system, we'll bring you all the latest news as soon as it breaks.
