Orange and Barclaycard brings NFC tech to UK streets

Items up to £15 can be paid for with the mobile wallet

Don't have cash? No problem.

NFC tech is coming to you with the partnership between Orange and Barclaycard.

They have announced their partnership to create Quick Tap, which is a near field communications (NFC) technology that allows people to pay through their smartphones.

The NFC service, which is the first of its kind in the UK, will initially be available on smartphones on Orange, such as the Samsung Tocco Lite.

Users' smartphones will become mobile wallets, with the service allowing for purchases up to £15 to be paid for.

Users with a Barclaycard, debit card or Orange credit card can transfer up to £100 on to their Quick Tap account.

Orange has said the technology will eventually come to a wider range of smartphones.
