OFFICIAL: Xperia release still on track

T3 gets to the bottom of delay rumours with official statement from Sony Ericsson

Various sites and blogs were buzzing this morning with news that Sony Ericsson's hot new handset, the Xperia X1, would now not see the light of day until next year.

Rumours of the delays surfaced when the unofficial Sony Ericsson blog noticed SE's official site touting a release date of 10th February 2009 - exactly one year after its announcement at Mobile World Congress.

Thankfully, the posted date, we commented on earlier today here, turned out to be a mistake from SE and the sparkly new X1 will enter the mobile battlefield later this year, as planned.

In a statement issued to T3.com this lunchtime Senior UK Marketing Manger Richard Dorman tell us: "X1 will, as previously communicated, launch during 2H 2008. Any other information is merely rumours and speculation."

Well that settles that then. Game on.
