O2 responds to iPhone drought with an exclusivity deal for its existing customers.
O2: iPhone 4 only for existing customers
According to a post on the O2 site, stocks of Apple's latest handset will be "extremely limited" in the UK when it launches later this month, and some customers will experience delays in getting their hands on one.
O2's response to the shortage? Make the new iPhones exclusively available to existing O2 customers, at least until more stock arrives. This isn't just limited to O2 customers who are upgrading from a previous incarnation of the iPhone, but all customers who use O2 mobile, mobile broadband, home broadband or home phone services (provided they have been customers since at the latest 24th May, 2010).
