Samsung has admitted that the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 could signal the death of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 line of tablets at an MWC press briefing.
Speaking to T3, Dr Hankil Yoon, senior VP product strategy group, Samsung, said: "We are not doing very well in tablet market and we wanted something new to add to category market."
Surprisingly, he continued: "We hope it kills of the Galaxy Tab". The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 launched at IFA more than a year ago, and was recently updated to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0.
"Seeking to kill your own product by releasing increasingly compelling devices might position Samsung as a confident brand. A brand ambitious to improve its products so that the choice for consumers is between several Samsung products rather than between Samsung and its competitors’ products", said Dr Yoon.
