Nokia's luxurious 8800 Carbon Arte launches
High-end handset for a seriously high price
Nokia once again asks us to spend a serious wedge of cash on a fairly average phone and all in the name of Arte. Or more specifically, the Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte.
But let's be honest, you'll not be buying this slider phone for the 3G connectivity. Nor indeed for the 3.2-megapixel auto focus camera, 4GB of storage, OLED display or the anti-fingerprint coating. You buy the 8800 Carbon Arte purely for status.
Just think, at the next team meeting, you can bore everyone silly with tales of its carbon fibre, titanium, polished glass and stainless steel construction and how the build was inspired by architecture, sports cars and aerospace. Then you can show off those exclusive 3D screen patterns, soundtracks and wallpapers. You might even want to mention the 1,100 Euros (plus contract) you paid for it, although that might just be taking things a step too far. Expect it before Christmas.
