Nokia Windows Phone handsets coming this year

CEO Stephen Elop says it'll sell more than one from launch

The iPhone 4S may have stolen all the headlines in the last couple of days, but we shouldn't let this one get lost under the avalanche of Apple stories. Just before the Apple announcement, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop told Reuters the company would release more than one Windows Phone handset before the year is out.

He mentioned the first Nokia-Microsoft handsets would be seen before the end of the quarter, so it looks like the Finnish phone giant will be sticking to its original 2011 launch timescale. And it seems more than one will be available from launch day.

A couple of weeks ago Elop also told a Chinese website a Nokia Windows Phone handset would be out this year, and with Nokia World happening on 26 October, we're expecting big things.
