Nokia and Microsoft joint event to see the first Nokia Windows Phone 7 phone made official on August 17th?

Nokia and Microsoft are to officially unveil the first Nokia Windows Phone 7 handset on August 17th after the two companies announce they are to hold a joint event in Cologne, Germany.

Having previously leaked in a number of surprisingly detailed hands-on videos the first Nokia Windows Phone 7 device, codenamed SeaRay, looks set to be made official later this month.

Set to mark the start of a long-term relationship between the Finnish phone giant and Microsoft that will see Nokia produce a series of handsets running the fledgling Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system, previous glimpses of the SeaRay have suggested it will land with a minimalist form factor reminiscent of the recently announced MeeGo powered Nokia N9.

“Exciting actions and surprises will make it an evening to remember,” declared the official invite the to Nokia and Microsoft party, hinting at the handset’s arrival.
