Nokia gives Mail on Ovi an official launch
The PC is dead, long live the mobile phone!
Traditionally, an email account is created on a PC or Mac, with the messages then pushed to your phone. But times they are a-changing and Nokia hopes to capitalise on this changing world with Mail on Ovi.
Now available in public beta, Mail on Ovi allows you to create your own email account directly on your mobile phone, offering all the features and functionality of a PC-based account, with a choice of up to 12 languages. Why would anyone want it? Well, according to Nokia, there's a new breed of 'mobile digital natives' using phones for both email and internet, rarely (if ever) accessing the web from a traditional PC, particularly in 'emerging' markets. These people need email accounts - and Nokia is on hand to offer them.
If your Nokia phone is one of the 35 Nokia Series 40 device models on the market, you can get your own email account from today.
