Nokia 5800 XpressMusic ships one million units

And Tube finally stops in the UK

You may be forgiven for thinking that the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic (aka the Nokia Tube 5800) is old news. After all, it was announced months ago, we did a hands-on back in October and we had the review done and dusted back in October. Yet amazingly, the handset has only reached the UK market today.

Indeed, it got a thumbs up in the review and so far, a positive reaction from the music mobile buying public. Nokia today announced that it has so far shifted one million of the handsets, selling out in a matter of hours in some markets.

That's not been the case so far in the UK. Around 150 hardy souls braved the elements to queue outside Nokia Flagship Store on London's Regent Street, but we've yet to see mass hysteria, civil unrest or sold out signs in the capital, so we'll presume business is nothing more than steady.

And before you do go out and spend your hard-earned cash on a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, make sure you check out our comparison of the five best touchscreen mobile phones on the market. You never know, there just might be a smarter smartphone waiting for you further down the road.
