Nokia 5800 Tube UK release date confirmed

Available SIM-free from January 23rd

 

When we first tested the Nokia 5800, we were smitten with its generous attitudes towards music, and its lovingly crafted touchscreen interface. At the time, however, only the Nokia Gods knew when we’d be able to walk into a store and take one home.

 

Well now the Finns have spoken, and the Tube will be available from January 23rd 2009; which is a Friday in case you were wondering.

 

£249 will land you a 5800 SIM-free, but it won’t be available on contract (on Vodafone, O2, Orange, T-Mobile UK, Virgin Mobile) until the 30th.

 

It’s not as beastly-powerful as the upcoming Nokia N97, but if you long for a non-Apple touchscreen, there’ll be nought much better till then.
