'No plans' for Netflix on BlackBerry 10

New OS won't flex the 'flix just yet

Netflix has said it currently has no plans to bring out a dedicated app for the BlackBerry 10 operating system

One of the biggest problems BlackBerry had in the face of the onslaught from Apple and Google was its lack of apps.

The Canadian company has been looking to fix that in a big way for its BlackBerry 10 OS, but one big name is still holding out: Netflix.

According to a spokesperson for the video streaming service, Netflix has "no current plans for a BlackBerry app". Confirming reports already doing the rounds that although iOS, Android and Windows all have native apps, the company isn't interested in BlackBerry.

In a separate BlackBerry development, Carphone Warehouse and Vodafone have already dropped the price of the flagship BlackBerry Z10 handset, less than a month after launch.

Despite the positive reaction to both the new handsets and the new operating system - BlackBerry has to entice the big third party studios to develop for it to ensure survival.

A positive note is the confirmation that Instagram and Skype are on the way - as is the massivly influencial Whatsapp which is slated to arrive later this month.
