No new iMacs for Christmas, says Apple
Apple's desktop range 'is set' for 2008
Rumour, gossip and a small amount of hard fact indicated Apple would be updating its desktop Mac range before the year is out. That no longer seems to be the case.
Talking to Macworld, Apple press spokesman Bill Evans said that the Christmas line-up of machines 'is set'. Which means there's no chance of an all-new machine with the latest Intel Core 2 Duo chips and updated graphics. If you want an iMac, you'll be investing in a machine that's been around since August 2007 - almost an antique in modern computing terms.
But it might be as well to save some of that Christmas cash if you're in the market for an all-new iMac or an improved Mac Mini - both are expected in early 2009. And we're expecting something special.
