New Nintendo Wii console unveiled as the streamlined Nintendo Wii Family Edition bundle
Nintendo has revealed it is to launch a revamped and streamlined version of the motion-controlled Nintendo Wii console ahead of the Christmas period.
Despite having unveiled the Wii’s successor at E3 earlier this year, with the Nintendo Wii U release date not scheduled until 2012 the Japanese gaming giant is to target this year’s Christmas shopping rush with a slimmed down version of its existing console.
Dubbed the “Family Edition Bundle” the revamped Wii package will come equipped with the newly streamlined console in classic white, a Wii Remote Plus controller with nunchuck sub-controller and the classic array of Wii Sports and Wii Party games.
With more than 87 million Wii consoles sold around the world to date, Nintendo is hoping its Wii Family Edition bundle will give the ageing device one final lease of life despite losing the Gamecube games and accessory compatibility boasted by its full sized predecessor.
