Nintendo DSi sales nearing 7 million

DSi is proving a portable gaming hit

Following their recent announcement that sales of the Wii and the DS are finally dwindling, some better news has come in the shape of global sales of the Nintendo DSi rapidly soaring towards 7 million.

The figures show that 6.88 million units of the DSi has been sold worldwide, adding to a series of impressive landmarks which include Japan announcing the sale of their 3 millionth DSi, and the 435,000 units sold during its first week of release in the US.

It's something clearly for Ninty to shout about with the DSi not even a year old, having only been released in the UK at the beginning of April.

The DSi made notable upgrades from the DS making it 12% thinner, increasing the screen size by 8%. While the addition of two VGA digtial cameras has clealry made the DSi one of the most desirable gadgets to have in your pocket.
