Nintendo DSi gets UK launch date

Well, we did tip you off about an earlier-than-expected launch, but even we didn't expect a launch quite as early as 3rd April 2009.
Yes, that's ahead of the US launch, albeit by a single day. Recession-friendly pricing? Not a chance while the new handheld is in short supply. £149 is being touted, well above the £100 price point initially floated and only £30 cheaper than picking up a Wii console. Oh yes - and around £30 more than US punters will shell out. Not that we're bitter about that.
See here for the lowdown on Nintendo's new baby or let us tell you that the DSi offers up an integrated 3 megapixel camera, an additional camera for gameplay, a slightly larger screen, enhanced multimedia features including media player, photo viewer and web browser, plus an SD card slot for storage. Region-coded games too, which might be annoying for you jetsetters.
Ok, it has its faults, but it also has more than enough positives to outweigh them. Our advice? Get your order in early, we suspect the DSi might not even make it onto the shelves.

This is great news, Australia on the 2nd April, UK on the 3rd and the US on the 4th.
They had to make the first release date the 2nd of April because no-one would have believed them if they had said the 1st April (april fools day).
