Nintendo denies Wii 2 HD will launch in 2010
Sure, they claim there's no "Wii HD," but perhaps there is a "Wii 2" in the works? Which happens to be high-def?
It was only last week that the whole world was speculating on the Wii 2, but Nintendo has quickly shot down all our hopes, with Nintendo America President Reggie Fils-Aime announcing "there is no Wii HD."
With rumours pointing at a high-def Wii 2 with a Blu-ray drive launching sometime in 2010, Fils-Aime's comments are very disappointing for anyone who was expecting Nintendo to play catch-up with Sony and Microsoft in the HD gaming war. Describing of how analyst Michael Pachter spread incorrect rumours last week about the Wii 2, Fils-Aime said "Michael continues to be the only one who believes this is going to happen," going on to say "I don't know how forcefully we can say that there is no Wii HD."
With Nintendo sales declining and even the recent price-cut failing to impress, the Japanese gaming company had better pull something out of the Mushroom Kingdom quick-fast.

Whatever they decide they will have to tread carefully. I am not sure that the majority of people who have purchased a Wii will immediately upgrade to a Wii HD/2. Unlike Sony and Microsoft Nintendo just specialise in games so haven't got other divisions that can buffer any losses. I would love to have a Nintendo Console in HD though, just for HD Zelda.
