3D handheld hub gets official release date

The Nintendo 3DS will be up for grabs from 26 February in Japan. The news has just emerged at a special press conference out in the Far East. Ninty says plans for the much-vaunted handheld’s global release will be announced later today.

The new console is set to come with a string of classic titles at launch, including Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, Metal Gear Solid and Chocobo Racing.

Pricing has been set at £264 in Japan, although you can expect this figure to vary once international plans get detailed later. Word on the web is that us UK punters will be feeling the 3DS love in March, which fits into plans to have the console released worldwide by the end of Q1 2011.
