Nintendo 3DS console to be as powerful as PS3?

New handheld's processor could rival home consoles

3D handheld console has the power.

There's a rumour flying around gaming circles that the new Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming console could come packing enough power to match the Sony PlayStation 3.

The 3DS, which will be officially launched at the E3 gaming expo next week, will boast glasses-less 3D effects as it's headline feature, but it could even top the Wii in terms of its graphical capabilities if the speculation amounts to anything.

According to a report on IGN, Nintendo sources have revealed that the 3DS will have graphical processing power far exceeding the Wii and come close to rivaling home consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

It's something which does make an awful lot of sense, it the 3DS is to produce three dimensional gaming, but it would be an impressive feat nonetheless.

E3 is certainly shaping up to be a good one this year, with more news expected to emerge on Project Natal and PlayStation Move as well as a potential new PSP device rumoured. We'll be here with all the big news from Los Angeles.
