Nikon S1100pj projector camera official

New snapper gets nod a day after leak

Brighter projector and new touchscreen make S1100pj an all-round winner.

Not to be outdone by Fujifilm’s new 3D W3, Nikon has rolled up with official deets on its spanking new S1100pj projector cam. Leaked online yesterday, the new snapper packs in a pico projector, as well as a 3-inch touchscreen and 5x optical zoom.

Of course, the projector’s the big talking point here, boosted to 14 lumens, which Nikon says is 40 per cent lighter than the now old-school S1000pj. It can throw images up to 47-inches and can even be hooked up to your PC or Mac for presentations, or just watching back movies stashed on iTunes.

The 3-inch touchscreen also lets you prod your pics to perfection with a new retouch feature. That means you can add fisheye effects, selective colouring and background defocus. You can even add animations and slide transitions without firing up your computer.

It’s got chops as a standard snapper too, with a 5x optical zoom, 14 megapixels and easy auto and smart portrait modes for taking killer snaps all the time. It comes in either green or black.

The Nikon S1100pj lands next month on these shores for £349. Add it to your wishlist of increasingly cool cameras that are doing the rounds right now and tell us which one you want on Facebook and Twitter.
