Nikon announces D300S D-SLR with HD movie capture
Nikon's D60 D-SLR won our Best Imaging Gadget award in last year's T3 Gadget Awards - will the D300S come close?
Nikon has updated its successful D300 D-SLR today, announcing the D300S, with the extra 'S' representing the new HD video recording and dual CF and SD card slot.
It’s got the same DX 12.3-megapixel CMOS sensor and 51-point autofocus system, however the HD recording also means movies are shot at 7fps, and a new LV button has been added allowing for easy swapping between video recording and stills shooting. There’s also an optional external stereo microphone if you so desire.
The screen measures 3.0-inches and ISO range is 200 – 3200. Nikon’s even played around with the playback interface, allowing for up to 72 thumbnails to appear onscreen.
Nikon claims “the best just got better”, however at £1,499.99 for the body only, we imagine it's only a few who'll try it out come 28th of August when it launches.
