News@8pm: Milestone 2 and Xbox 360 S

Welcome to your nightly roundup of the days news, reviews and goings on courtesy of T3.com

It's been another busy day for the tech world - here's the best of the days news in digestible format:

Console news is the first order of the day. The arrival of the Xbox 360 S has become the most successful launch of a 'revised' console ever. The survey along with another carried out in America showed that the Slim equalled the figures of the original 360 when it was released. This information then hardly makes it surprising when we learnt that the Xbox 360 Slim has sold out across the country, with shortages now expected to be a regular occurrence for several weeks. If that’s not devastating enough it’s also been confirmed that we won't be getting the 3D experience we hoped for from Sony as all PS3 3D games will only be available in 720p and nothing higher. While you’ll still be able to watch glorious 1080p 3D Blu-rays, Sony has decided that 720p will offer a smoother experience for gaming.

Smartphones beware, the iPhone 4 is going to make a stand, ‘when?’ you may ask. Well at some distant point in the not very near future, that’s when. This is because the white iPhone 4 could be well wide of its late July release date. Sources discovered the company was having problems getting the right ‘whiteness’ for the case, and as such have suffered quite major delays in getting it ready for shipping. While you’re waiting for the iPhone, maybe this next gadget will steal your heart. The first official pictures of the Motorola Milestone 2 have been released. The phone will feature a scorching 1GHz processor and will contain the same scary wallpapers that tried to steal your soul in the last model. If you can't wait though, don't worry as Motorola's new Milestone XT720 has arrived today in the UK. Boasting Android 2.1 and a 8-megapixel snapper it's certainly not lacking in the 'oomph' department.

Laptops might not be the first pieces of equipment that spring to mind when you think of 3D, however, we would kindly ask you to reconsider. LG has announced it will be releasing its very first 3D laptop. The LG R590 will be the first in a line of new 3D LG products heading to our shores. It comes with a pair of specs included, and will offer a nifty little feature called TriDef which will convert 2D video to 3D in real-time. Now if that isn’t progress for you we just don’t know what is. Along with the laptops LG has released its first 3D Blu-ray player the LG BX580 which we've reviewed online, and at only £250 surely isn't a price to be sniffed at.

The Apple camp is under attack once again, this time however it’s from the other manufacturers. RIM has released an official statement making it quite clear that their phones do not suffer from the same antenna issues as the iPhone 4. This is of course after Steve Jobs demonstrated in the July 16th Press conference a 'death grip' on other manufacturers phones. Which side are you on? Vote in our T3 Antennagate poll and let us know what you think.
