News@8pm: iPhone 4 recall and Xbox 360 Arcade

Welcome to your nightly round-up of the days news, reviews and goings on courtesy of T3.com

Its been another busy day for the tech world - here's the best of the days news in digestible format:

Smartphones, and in particular their operating systems, have taken a beating today with claims against both Apple and Symbian. A leading expert has said that Apple must recall the iPhone 4 if it wants to take a handle on the bad press that's been raging on. Professor Matthew Seeger believes that the only way Apple can maintain its brand image is to admit the fault and carry out a recall. Opera has released a finalised version of it's new mobile web browser, Opera Mini 5.1 contains some brand new features for Android users to enjoy including tabbed browsing and the ability to sync with your computer. Nokia operating system Symbian is in serious trouble according to expert analyst Nick Jones. Calling the operating system a 'Titanic' heading towards a 'Android iceberg', his poetic descriptions should be more than enough to make Symbian stand up and take notice.

The tech world is abuzz with new things at the moment. The BBC has just unveiled a brand new fresh-out-of-the-box news website. Aimed at being media heavy with a light sprinkling of social undertones, the website is starkly different to the old one with cleaner lines and a simpler interface. Suspecting the world may end and want to make sure your documents are safe? Fear not. LaCie has just released its most rugged USB stick ever. The XtremKey can survive being run over by a 10 tonne truck and is waterproof to 100m. Well, you can never be too careful!

Xbox 360 news just gets better and better. Germany's Amazon website has placed a listing for a new 4GB Xbox 360 Arcade.  With the release date believed to be 20 August and a price of around £124 it's certain to cause a stir. If that isn't enough to wet your appetite then perhaps this will: a brand new version of the Kinect-based game Milo was showcased at a TED Global Technology event in Oxford. The game which, centres around a single character called Milo, caused quite a stir at E3 after it showed just how far AI has come in gaming.

Camcorders are out in force at the moment. Sony is going to release the first HD camcorder with interchangeable lenses. The NEX-VG10E will be released around September and while there's no price announced as yet, our advice is to start saving now. With a hugely impressive 14.2 EXMOR sensor and BIONZ processor don't expect this product to be on the budget end of the range!
