Facebook users will be interested to hear that an apparent loophole in the security of the world's biggest social networking site was reported today by Symantec, with the personal data of 500 million Facebook users potentially leaked to third-party internet companies. The Californian based company has denied the accusations. Elsewhere in the world of social networking, it appears Twitpic could be set to cash in on your uploaded snaps. The smartphone photo uploading service has altered its terms and conditions so that it can to sell on any of the photos you take to third party news agencies. Naturally, we get diddly squat from the deal.

The new iPod nano will go clipless and feature a camera, if a released spy shot is anything to go by. The picture comes in advance of the unveiling of the new iPod range at Apple's annual iPod event in September. Meanwhile, another internet find has shown us what the iPad could have looked like. An unused iPad patent filed by the Cupertino company shows that the originally designed tablet was set to boast two USB 2.0 ports. The document also granted Apple coverage to incorporate a second, landscape docking connection, a feature that would allow users to port their Apple tablets on landscape specific docks for improved movie viewing possibilities.

Google has come clean about its plans for Android Ice Cream Sandwich, the next iteration of its open-source operating system. The software update will be out towards the end of the year and will work across both smartphones and tablets. It’s set to take the lead from the ‘holographic’ design currently found on the tablet-centric Honeycomb, whilst also offering face detection, aimed at making video calls clearer. The search giant also unveiled Android Market Movies, a film rental service for smartphone and tablet users that’s heading to the States in a few weeks.
