News @ 8: New iPad, iPod and iPhone for Christmas?

Welcome to your nightly roundup of the day's news and goings on courtesy of T3.com.

The Apple rumour mill has officially been in overdrive today with talk of a new iPad, iPod and iPhone arriving before Christmas. Sounds highly unlikely, but after Antennagate, it sure would be a good way to keep the Apple fanbois sweet. On the little more substantial PMP news front, the Archos 32 8GB has been leaked as the French PMP-makers once again try to break that iPod stranglehold on the market. Bonne chance with that Archos…

With just months away before the Xbox Kinect vs PlayStation Move battle truly kicks off, Microsoft has been dealt something of a blow with the announcement that Fable 3 will not have Kinect support, despite initial suggestions from creator Peter Molyneux that there would be. When it rains on it pours, with a survey of UK gamers suggesting that PlayStation Move will outsell Kinect. PlayStation Move creator, Dr Richard Marks exclusively waded into the debate telling T3 that Kinect would also have ‘limited control’. We got our exclusive hands on with the inner working of Microsoft Kinect to find out if it really is time to panic. Over to you Microsoft…

As BlackBerry owners in Saudi Arabia contemplate life without BB Messenger, there is better news over in the UK as the BlackBerry Pearl 3G goes PAYG on T-Mobile. Staying on the smartphone front, and with a whole lot of iPhone 4 jailbreaking going on, Apple has announced that an ‘Upcoming software update” is on the way to protect iPhone users from crafty hackers, and a barrage of more bad press for Apple we guess. As the Cupertino company tackles another disaster, Google is busy activating 200,000 Android phones a day as global sales of the Google-powered handsets rise 886 per cent.

Our last mention in tonight’s News@8 goes to the much-hyped, real-time communication and collaboration tool Google Wave, which has effectively been shut down after just 15 months of no one having a clue what to do with it. Oh well, you can’t get them all right can you?
