Emerging app news with us today poses exciting possibilities for users of most key platforms. Whilst we take a closer look at the iMovie and GargeBand apps unveiled to launch alongside the second-generation iPad, reports suggest that RIM is to make the BlackBerry Messenger service available to Android and iOS handset users via a series of upcoming app releases.

General tech updates today saw new that following last months bricking issues, Microsoft has resumed downloads of the Windows Phone 7 update for users of the Samsung Omnia 7 handset. Elsewhere iPad 2 rival the Motorola Xoom has been made available for pre order in the UK with a near Apple tablet challenging £499 price tag.

Apple's non iPad news is still a top player with the Cupertino company making waves away from the newly announced iPad 2, well, sort of. Whilst it is confirmed that the new iPad 2 HDMI connector will also be compatible with your iPhone and iPod Touch devices, Apple saw its stock prices rise just minutes after Steve Jobs appeared on stage at the iPad 2 unveiling.
