Some good news for PlayStation fans?

A FCC filing by Sony appears to hint at the launch of a new PlayStation 3 extending the life of the seventh generation console that little bit longer.

Two model numbers CECH 3001A and CECH 3001B are both accompanied by the product name, 'Computer Entertainment System (PlayStation3).' The Note column also suggests that the models have been tested.

Other than that, there are no more details pointing to a new console, but this is apparently not the first time we've seen the CECH-3001 PS3 model number crop up after first being spotted in December.

One things for sure, if Sony do have plans to launch a new PS3 console, we sincerely hope they manage to sort out that rather major PSN problem in time for it.
