New iPods on the way in September, according to Digg founder Kevin Rose

New prices, new iPods, new iTunes

Digg founder Kevin Rose, infamous for his predictions about future Apple products, has gazed into his crystal ball and announced that new iPods will be announced "in the next 2-3 weeks".

Made over the weekend, he's claiming there'll be a "revamp of entire iPod line", including "small cosmetic changes to Touch" and the Nano will "see significant redesign", as per the hazy image you can see on the right. What's interesting with the leaked Nano picture is that it looks like a return to form for Apple, reverting back to the narrow long design from before.

Included in the launch of new iPods will be a new price-point, with "fairly large price drops" on the way, in order to differentiate themselves from the iPhone, which comes it at much the same price as the Touch 'pods.

And it's not just hardware and the pricing that'll change, with iTunes getting looked at too, with a new upgrade to iTunes 8.0 which he promises is "a big update w/new features".

All fascinating stuff, however we must remember Rose's previous predictions haven't always been accurate , with a false prediction about a front-facing camera for video chat on the iPhone 3G, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard for the first-gen model. And even if it is true, what are we to do with al our current, shiny iPod accessories?
