New ASUS S101 Eee PC unveiled - and it's brown!
What? Again?
The ASUS Eee PC family must have been going at it like rabbits. We've already brought you first images of the 10" Eee this week, now behold the new Ultimate S101 Eee.
Unveiled today, it carries the same 1.6 GHz Atom processor and chipset as the rest of the rapidly expanding line, but comes with extra SSD capacity (Between 32 and 64GB). Oh, and to appeal to the more upmarket "Exquisite" user (their words, not ours), they've inexplicably painted it brown.
In an original move, ASUS chief Jerry Shen unveiled the new model by pulling it out of an envelope, an approach that in no way resembles Steve Jobs's unveiling of the MacBook Air.
Quite why ASUS is hoping to make the Eee go up-market when its main selling point was the low price tag, we're not sure, but expect it to retail for between $700 and $900.
