Having reportedly shifted 6 million Kindle Fire tablets to date, Amazon is rumoured to be planning the launch of a new 9-inch tablet later this year
Having seen high demand for its original tablet offering following its release in the US last November, an industry analyst has suggested Amazon will launch a new 9-inch Amazon Kindle Fire tablet later this year.
Tipped to expand its tablet offerings by the midpoint of the year, Amazon is predicted to be adding a 9-inch device to its heavily skinned Android tablet arsenal with the original 7-inch Amazon Kindle Fire to be on the receiving end of a refresh.
“We are raising our 2012 sales forecasts to 14.9 million from 12.7 million,” said Pacific Crest analyst Chad Bartley. “We believe there is an upward bias, particularly from the new 7- and 9-inch models, which we expect to launch in mid-2012.”
Exclusive to the US from launch, retailer come gadget manufacturer Amazon has yet to reveal when its flagship tablet device will part ways with the States and make the trip to British soil.
Whilst previous reports had suggested a possible January Amazon Kindle Fire UK release was on the cards, the latest reports of a refreshed tablet release later this year could see the 7-inch Wi-Fi compatibly media device come to the UK in its second guise.
