Having risen to power in the Android tablet scene, new reports have suggested online retailer Amazon is to expand its hardware offerings later this year with a 10.1-inch Kindle Fire tablet tipped for a Q3 release.
Taking control of more than 50 per cent of Android tablet sales in recent months, the currently US exclusive cut-price 7-inch Amazon Kindle Fire tablet looks set to get a new stable mate with rumours once again igniting around a potential 10.1-inch Android filled Amazon tablet.
Citing “industry sources,” tech blog DigiTimes has suggested Amazon will further bring the tablet wars fight to Apple with a touted 10.1-inc Kindle Fire device set to line up as a direct rival to the Cupertino company’s market dominating new iPad 3 and continuing iPad 2 models.
Whilst no concrete details have yet been offered on the claimed 10.1-inch tablet, it is expected that any new Amazon Kindle Fire branded releases will follow a number of core characteristics set out by the original model with a heavily skinned Android OS tipped to line up alongside a minimalist price tag that grabs consumer attention.
