NASA launches iPad app

Mission information direct to your Apple iPad

One giant leap for iPad.

Here's an app that should please everyone who grew up wanting to be an astronaut. NASA has launched an application for iPad packed with mission information allowing us to boldly go without leaving our living rooms.

The NASA App HD is free to download from the App Store, which is surprising as the Space Agency could use a few quid with President Barack Obama bringing down the curtain on the shuttle program.

As well as up-to-date mission information, you can access NASA's photo and video library as well as explore the universe, by clicking on a planet to bring up associated missions and information. You can also live stream from the NASA TV channel, but that's only for US subscribers.

The app is an upgrade on what's already available for the Apple iPhone and is available now.
