MSI launches the X400 ultra-slim notebook

Designer looks without the matching price tag

MSI certainly isn't a designer brand, but the X400 does at least offer some high-end looks - and without the premium price tag.

Take your pick from a glossy black and white finish, both colour options skipping lunch to slim down to just 9mm at the thinnest point, making the X400 one of the slimmest 14-inch notebooks on the planet. Does that mean a lack of features? Well, outside of an internal optical drive, no.

Two variations of the theme are available, the X400-038UK with 500GB HDD, Intel Centrino SU3500 CPU and an external optical drive or the X400-074UK with 320GB HDD, SU2700 CPU and no optical drive. Outside of that, both are the same, with HD widescreen display in 16:9 format, HDMI connectivity, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, MSI's Vivid Image Enhancement, which gives your images a 3D-like look, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, card reader, USB slots and a free carry bag.

All of that will set you back £569 for the MSI X400-038UK or £499 for the X400-074UK, both available in a matter of weeks.
