Motorola has confirmed that it has begun rolling out the Android 3.1 Honeycomb update to users of the Motorola Xoom tablet in European markets.
Adding a feast of new features to the iPad 2 rival, the Android 3.1 update will allow European users of the Xoom to utilise the tablet’s inbuilt SD card slot for the first time as well as offering the ability to support USB connected accessories.
Making the announcement via its official Facebook page, Motorola declared: “The 3.1 update for Motorola XOOM™ outside the U.S. has started. Owners in Europe can expect updates over the next several weeks until the roll out is complete.”
The announcement added: “The 3.1 update for non-U.S. devices, in addition to many other improvements, also includes SD card activation. Release notes will be made available in each region, functionality varies by region.”
Whilst Motorola has yet to confirm exactly which European nations will be eligible for the Android 3.1 update first, the update which was made available to US Xoom users last month will enable Motorola tablet touting Europeans to customise and resize widgets as well as expand Bluetooth support.
