Motorola Xoom Android 3.1 Honeycomb update hits the UK

Motorola rolls out Android 3.1 to UK Xoom users

Apple iPad 2 challenger gets Android 3.1 in the UK as Motorola rolls out the revamped Honeycomb OS for the Xoom

Motorola has confirmed that it has begun rolling out the Android 3.1 software update for its Xoom tablet in the UK, some three months after the OS upgrade was made available in the US.

Made available for US Xooms back in May Google’s Android 3.1 OS update brings a number of key functionality enhancements to the iPad challenger most notably activating the device’s SD card slot which has until now lay dormant.

Other new features enabled by the new software update include resizable homescreen widgets, keyboard and mouse accessory support and an increasingly visual multi-tasking functionality. Adobe Flash player is also enable with the Android 3.1 update.

Whilst UK users are only just adding version 3.1 of Google’s Android Honeycomb OS to their Motorola-branded 10-inch tablets, users in the US have already been handed Android 3.2.

The Motorola Xoom launched earlier this year and boasts a 1GHz dual-core processor with a 5-megapixel rear mounted camera with 720p HD video recording capabilities joined by a second 2-megapixel forward-facing snapper and 1GB of RAM.
