Monty Python gets its own YouTube channel
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em
Legendary comedy series Monty Python has just joined the YouTube brigade. An official video statement on the new Monty Python Channel ‘blames’ the unauthorised uploading of its content for its decision, but instead of getting of legal and snotty about the whole thing, the Python team has decided to join in.
“We know who you are, we know where you live and we could come after you in ways too horrible to tell. But being the extraordinarily nice chaps we are, we've figured a better way to get our own back: We've launched our own Monty Python channel on YouTube.”
The new channel promises higher quality video than the illegitimate stuff and urges users to click the links and buy the proper movies and TV shows if they like it.
Right now, there’s 24 clips from a range of Python films and shows, and the channel promises a lot more will be added over time.
It’s very refreshing to find a company embracing the YouTube era instead of whinging about or threatening to sue. Quick, someone tell Viacom.
