Just 16 days after it's release, Activision Blizzard's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has made over $1 billion in sales
Despite having been knocked off the top of the UK all format games charts yesterday, Modern Warfare 3 has simultaneously become the fastest selling entertainment title of all time.
The exhiliarating shooter takes the record from James Cameron's Avatar, which took 17 days to make $1 billion in box office sales.
According to Activision Blizzard, the Call of Duty franchise as a whole now has more than 30 million players worldwide. Just to put that in perspective for you, that's just under half the population of the UK.
Activision CEO Bobby Kotich said, "Call of Duty as an entertainment franchise has made an indelible mark on popular culture.
"Call of Duty is now amongst that rarified group of sustained franchises like Star Wars, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings and the National Football League that attract or engage tens of millions of people every year or every new release."
